On September 15th, 2014, the Rencons Tower, which had been constructed by Rencons, became the first high-rise project in Turkey to receive LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The 185.5-meter-tall Rencons Tower is a Grade A office building (84,845 sq m) located in Istanbul, Turkey.

The sustainable technologies used for the Rencons Tower resulted in reducing the consumption of energy and water; improving mechanical system performance and indoor air quality; lowering operating costs; and decreasing energy savings by 26%. Recycled materials were used for over 20% of the construction.

Rencons offered some structural innovations for this project by reducing the amount of the concrete and steel. Performance Based Design (PBD) helped create proven engineering solutions to optimize the size of the structural components, as well as a seismic structural analysis and design. The structure is designed to safely withstand even the most severe earthquakes in this seismically sensitive area. Grade C50 concrete was used for all concrete structural elements. The desired seismic response of the tower is assured by special detailing and structural devices called buckling restrained braces, which are used as outriggers at the mid-height of the structural system.
