Renaissance Construction is the general contractor of a new high-rise project in St. Petersburg, Russia. The building will reach 462 meters in height and 670 thousand tons in weight. Located on the piles drilling the soils to 85-meter depth, the foundation slab of building is two meters in diameter and 65 meters in length. Thus, a crucial attention has been given to the slab of the building foundation.
Being one of the most challenging and complex structural component, “foundation slab” has been designed as equilateral pentagon with area of of 5,670 sq. m. that is an example of architectural aesthetics of the project. 15 rows of fire bar composed of 32 mm reinforcement were used for the slab.
A total of 9.2 thousand tons of iron has been used for reinforced foundation slab of the building. A replica of Eiffel Tower in Paris can be constructed from the metals only used for this part of project. The initials of the projects are not limited with these: the concrete of the building has been provided by 13 different concrete plants in St. Petersburg. Transit mixers made 2,540 trips delivering concrete and on average one mixer was entering the construction site every minute.
As a further step, a flawless measurement system for structural concrete control has been established by the experienced team of Renaissance Construction. In this context, the main body has been combined with 330 sensors and continuous monitoring of instant changes has been provided.
